Mary Littrell Obituary

Mary Pauline (Wilson) Littrell passed away March 8th, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born July 28, 1925 in Jackson, Missouri reaching the ripe old age of 98 years, 8 months. Her parents were Glenn Wilson and Ella (Siemers) Wilson. On June 28, 1947 she and Joe S. Littrell were married and celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Mary is survived by her son, Bill Littrell and wife Mae of Jonesboro. Along with Bill and Mae she is survived by her grandson, Perry Littrell and wife Cathy of Park Ridge, Illinois. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Stella Marie (Littrell) Dallas and Joel of Jonesboro, Illinois. Mary was very proud of her great grandchildren who also survive, Payton, Will and Robbie Littrell of Park Ridge and Cooper and Lily Dallas of Jonesboro. She is also survived by sisters in law, Bert Wilson and Margaret Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers George Wilson and Glenn Wilson.

Mary graduated from Jackson High School and attended a business college in Chillicothe, Missouri. Upon graduation from business college she worked as a bookkeeper until she and Joe were married. It was then she turned her attention to help her husband in his business ventures and being a full-time mother. She was a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod where she taught Sunday school for many years and saw that her son was raised in the faith. There was never any discussion of what the family was going to do on Sunday, it was going to church, which she was faithful in doing all her life.

She enjoyed volunteering at Bill’s school and pursued many hobbies. Those included gardening, bridge clubs, Red Hats, the Women’s Federated Club and last but not least, shopping. In her final years as her health limited her she made many friends at the Union County Hospital Long Term Care Facility and the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Mary will be remembered by her family and friends as a feisty, yet loving woman who enjoyed the company of those around her.
