Mary C. (McCommons) Casper

Mary C. Casper, age 91 of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her home. She was born February 22, 1931 in Dongola, the daughter of Clarence S. and Ellen C. (Lingle) McCommons. She married Waconda W. “Walkie” Casper on December 14, 1946 in Piggott, AR. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2007.

          Mary is survived by her daughters, Sandy Williams of Anna, Lisa (Rick) Hicks of Jonesboro, Pam Casper of Anna; seven grandchildren, Rik Hicks, Cortni Hicks, Jeremiah (Leigha) Kessner, Jimmy Kessner, Jesse (Amy) Shephard, Rick and Jason Shephard; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Brown, Nicholas Shephard, Connor and Clarity Shephard; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walkie Casper; sister, Eileen Ellis; two half-sisters, Erie Rosson and Clara Barnett; and half-brother Roy McCommons.  

          Mary was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Mary and her husband, Walkie served our community for 45 years providing fresh produce at Casper’s Produce Market in Jonesboro. She was a sweet and loving lady who was a wonderful cook and loved cooking and baking for her family. She was very proud of her grandchildren and loved spending time with all of them and especially loved spending hours putting puzzles together with her only granddaughter Cortni. She proudly watched her grandson, Rik play high school and college football and she enjoyed very much traveling to his away games. She also followed her granddaughter Cortni’s high school and college golf tournaments.

          Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Doug Bridgeman and Pastor Jason Randal officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
