Juanita Land, age 83 of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born November 9, 1939 in Union County, the daughter of James Hannibal and Alice Addie (Hatley) Aldridge. Juanita married David Wayne Ellet, who preceded her in death. She later remarried to J.P. Land. He preceded her in death.
Juanita was a devout Christian and a member of the Grand Tower Baptist Church. She greatly enjoyed crocheting and reading mystery novels.
She is survived by her life partner of 23 years, Dewane Moreland of Jonesboro; daughters, Linda (Gene) Young of Chester and Lori (Teresa) Burke-Ellet of San Diego, California; son, Richard (Linda) Ellet of De Soto; seven grandchildren, Angela Yearian, Amber McClure (Tony Bertoglio), Alex, Brandon, and Christopher Young, David and Ella Burke-Ellet; four great-grandchildren, Clayton Ellet, Chance Yearian, William Travis Young, and Nolan Bertoglio; brother, James (Marilyn) Aldridge of Anderson, South Carolina; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; grandson, Travis G. Young; four sisters, and two brothers. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services for Juanita Land will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in the Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower. Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
