Helen Kathleen Arnold-Sanders, age 96 of Anna, died Saturday, October 7, 2023 at her home. She was born on August 22, 1927 in Union County, the daughter of Chester and Zora Mae (Pearce) Fuller. She married William “Deak” Arnold in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1969. Later she married Thomas H. Sanders. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Helen is survived by three daughters, Connie Arnold of Anna, Vicky Arnold of Carmi and Cathy Evans of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 17 great great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Fuller of Crawfordsville, IN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a daughter, Darlene Turner; three sisters and two brothers.
Helen became a Christian at age eight or nine. She was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church. She was very active in her church, teaching Sunday School and serving as church secretary. Helen loved singing to the Lord. At times, she could be heard singing on WKRO radio in Cairo. She enjoyed quilting and traveling with Tom and Vicky. She visited, Israel, Jerusalem, Alaska and other destinations along with numerous trips to Branson. Of course, she always had time to help care for her grandchildren.
Funeral services for Helen Arnold-Sanders will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Perry Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
