Glenda A. Franklin

       Glenda A. Franklin, age 90 of Carbondale, formerly of Jonesboro, died Saturday, September 9, 2023 at her granddaughter’s home. She was born August 28, 1933 in Elco, the daughter of Claude Edgar and Bertha Florence (Harvel) Lingle. She married Cecil Franklin on August 3, 1978 in Grand Tower. He preceded her in death December 9, 2012.

       Glenda enjoyed golfing, travelling, and taking her family on vacation. She was a member of the Anna First Baptist Church for many years. She loved her friends and family, and spending time with her great-grandson, Cole, brought her so much joy.

       She is survived by a son, Clyde “Rusty” (Marilyn) Arnold of Jonesboro; step-children, Maury Lee Franklin of Mounds and Sherry Lee (Rick) Ellet of Carterville; granddaughter, Kim (Scott) Swain of Carbondale; great-grandson, Cole Swain; several step-grandchildren; son in law, Lloyd “Red” Dunn of Jonesboro; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Franklin; daughter, Claudia Jane Dunn, and grandchild, Carmen Dunn. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

       Graveside funeral services for Glenda will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Anna Cemetery. Interment will immediately follow. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery as well as the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home.
