Dennis Wesley Baggott, age 67 of Anna, formerly of Cobden, died Monday, October 2, 2023 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Anna. He was born December 30, 1955 in Anna, the son of Conrad W. and Norma J. (Bevil) Baggott.
Dennis is survived by his sister, Cynthia (Gerry) Boehne of Kevil, KY; brothers, Conrad Wayne Baggott of Salmon, ID, and Darren (Michelle) Baggott of Anna; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dennis honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He served as past post commander of the Cobden American Legion and was very active in the Forty and Eight group of the American Legion. Dennis was a fire fighter with the Cobden Fire Department for over twenty years and was very active with the Cobden Lions Club. He had a lucky streak when it came to raffles and bingo, he was always a winner. Dennis enjoyed singing with the Carbondale Men’s Barbershop Chorus. Dennis worked for the State of Illinois, retiring as a Mental Health Technician.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Pastor Carl Dillow officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honor Team of Marion. Friends may visit after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 12:00 noon on Saturday at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cobden Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
