Curtis Dwayne Treece, age 74 of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday July 15, 2023 at the Marion VA Medical Center Community Living Center and Palliative Care after battling M.D.S. blood disease. He was born August 6, 1948 at home in Wolf Lake, the son of Curtis L. and Velma M. (Bright) Treece. He married Dorthy Godwin on March 31, 1972 at Big Creek church in Anna, sharing 51 wonderful years together.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Dorthy Treece of Jonesboro; son, Dwayne Treece (Stephanie Brumleve) of Anna; sister, Lillian Sadler of Kirksville, MO; many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Frick, Ruth Black, Betty Taormina, and Wilma Loveless.
Curtis was a 1967 graduate of Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam.
He worked many years for the Anna Ready Mix and Illini Ready Mix. After his retirement he owned and operated Treece Backhoe and Hauling until he started having health issues. Curtis served on the Kelly Cemetery Board for 31 years.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will be in the Kelly Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Funeral Honor Team of Marion. Friends may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to Kelly Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
