Carl Ray Childers

Mr. Carl R. Childers, age 67 of Cobden, died at 1:46 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born August 30, 1948 in Anna, the son of Charles and Lucille (Kirkpatrick) Childers. He married Brenda Braggs on April 1, 1967 in the Union Springs Baptist Church in Cobden. Carl is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Childers of Cobden; two sons, Collin (Debbie) Childers of Makanda, and Preston (Briana) Childers of Carterville; two grandchildren, Jessica and Bryston Childers; one brother, Johnny Childers of Mt. Vernon; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and two brothers. Carl was retired from Penn Aluminum as Plant Supervisor where he worked for forty-four years. He loved fishing, taking walks, watching Cardinal Baseball. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Carl R. Childers will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Rev. Ed Falgout officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery.
