Beverly Carol Galbraith, age 79 of Anna, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 9, 2024. She was born December 26, 1944, in Cobden, the daughter of Loren S. and Vergie (Mangrum) Barlow. She married Jimmy R. Galbraith on December 31, 1960, in Cobden. Together they shared sixty-four years of marriage.
Beverly is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Jimmy R. Galbraith of Anna; two daughters, Yvonne Renee and husband, Randy Smith of Braidwood, and Carolyn Sue and husband Chris Shumaker of Dwight; three grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Steven Shumaker, and Beverly Joyce and husband Jeremy Lomeka; sister in law, Barbara Barlow of Anna; brother in law, Carl Massey of Anna; niece, Mary Ann Lazenby-Dew of Anna; three nephews, Ronald Massey, Eric and wife Jennifer Massey and Doug Barlow all of Anna; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Massey and three brothers, Charles “Corky” Barlow, Scotty Barlow and Loren Barlow Jr.
After Beverly and Jim were married, they moved to Minnesota, where Jim attended Bible college and she worked as a nurse. They moved to Joliet where she worked for the Lutheran Nursing Home, and later to Wilmington where she and Jim started their church. They spent the next thirty years there leading others to Christ before coming back to Southern Illinois. Beverly was a devoted pastor’s wife, and a talented musician, playing various instruments with ease. Jim pastored the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Jonesboro for twelve years and after his retirement they attended the Apostolic Lighthouse in Cobden.
Beverly’s love for caring for others has reached many hearts throughout the years; she will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Apostolic Lighthouse in Cobden with Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00 noon and until the service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Apostolic Lighthouse in Cobden.
