April Glays, age 34 of Anna, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at her home after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. She was born on April 12, 1989 in Palos Heights, Illinois the daughter of Karl and Nadine (Nolan) Lebensorger. She married Brent Glays on June 28, 2014 in Ottawa, Illinois.
April is survived by her husband, Brent; four sons, William, Joshua, Jack and Jonathan Glays; her mother, Nadine Lebensorger; sister, Rachel Lebensorger (Shane Meyer); sisters-in-law, Pamela Glays and Jennifer (Tom) Argle; maternal grandmother, Herminea "Dolly" Lebensorger; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Don and Kathy Glays; aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Karl Lebensorger; maternal grandfather, Charles Lebensorger and her maternal grandparents, James and Geri Nolan.
After their marriage in 2014, April and Brent began building their dream by purchasing property in Union County, Illinois, just outside of Anna. They started small but their family and their farm grew. In 2018, The Flock Farm received its license, and they began selling their products at farmer’s markets in Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. So many friendships have been built along the way as April worked tirelessly as mom, farmer, gardener and businesswoman.
Funeral mass for April Glays will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale with Father Bob Flannery officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Glays family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
