Wilma Jean Schaefer, age 79 of Jonesboro, died at 4:15 pm, Saturday, July 14, 2012 at her home in Jonesboro. She was born on February 12, 1933 in Alto Pass, the daughter of Harry and Ada Tellor kinder. Wilma married Jimmie Wayne Schaefer Sr. on May 26, 1951 in Anna. Wilma is survived by her husband Jimmie Schaefer Sr. of Jonesboro; five children, Jimmie W. Schaefer Jr. of Kissimmee, FL, Gwen Harrell of Knoxville, TN, Trina (Kelly) Thomas of Carbondale, Jerry Schaefer of Marion and Jon (Beverly) Schaefer of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Harrell, Allison Harrell, Jyoti Chi, William Lyons, Jerod Schaefer and Jacob Schaefer; one great-grandchildren, Jala Chi; one sister, Pauline Jones Burgess of Vienna, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hubert Lee Kinder. Wilma and Jim resided on a farm near Wolf Lake until 1977 when they moved to a farm on Route 146, west of Jonesboro. Wilma worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years in Wolf Lake, Carbondale, Cape Girardeau, Thebes, and retired from the Dongola post office. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Alto Pass Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Fear officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Jonesboro or St. Jude's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at the Alto Pass Cemetery.
