Mr. William R. "Shorty" Randles, age 89 of Wolf Lake, passed away with his children at his side at 11:57 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the Anna Rehab and Nursing Center in Anna. He was born April 20, 1923 in Jonesboro, the son of James G. and Gladys Wilson Randles. He married Eula Knight on November 29, 1942; they lovingly shared 59 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2002. William is survived by one daughter, Janelle (John) Goodson of Stuttgart, AR; one son, Greg (Candy) Randles of Alto Pass; grandchildren, Jason Goodson of New Berlin, IL, Lisa (Andy) Ellet of Grand Tower, Kirk Randles of Wolf Lake; great grandchildren, Alli Goodson, Lily and Katie; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eula Randles; and one brother, James L. Randles. Shorty proudly served his country during WWII in the Aleutian Islands in 1943. He worked at the Trojan Powder Plant in Wolf Lake until 1955 when he became the Post Master in Wolf Lake. He retired in 1990 after 32 years of service. Shorty enjoyed hunting, working on his yard and farm. He dearly loved singing in his church in Wolf Lake. Funeral services for Mr. William A. "Shorty" Randles will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Stephanie Voss officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call after 12:00 noon and until the funeral hour at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wolf Lake United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
