Sergeant William Hollie Craig, born October 17, 1929 in Union County went to be with the Lord September 8, 2021. He was United in marriage to Betty Louise Braggs on July 2, 1949, until her death May 7, 2015. Hollie Served in the US Army as a Gunnery Sergeant from 1947-1952 during WWII and the Korean War. During his service, he helped liberate concentration camps as well as dispose of German munitions. He was a POW during the Korean War. This service earned him multiple medals including the distinguished purple heart. He was a beloved hero and patriot. Hollie leaves behind to cherish his memory his three surviving children, William Scott Craig, Steven David Craig and Pamela Jo Anaya; 10 grandchildren Tracy, Edward, Bridget, William, Joe, Brandon, Kristi, Kenneth, Nicholas and Jessica; 11 great grandchildren, Jacob, Brittney, Ashley, Logan, Kansas, Kaegon, Jonah, Olivia, Zander, Jasmine and Carter; as well as other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Alonzo Craig; his wife, Betty Louise Craig; and daughters, Betty Anne Oshman and Theda Darlene Legocki; brothers, Rollie Craig and Charles Craig and sisters, Juanita Dangbar, Helen Lingle and Evelyn Adams. Funeral services for William Hollie Craig will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2021 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Graveside committal services and inurnment with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2021 at the Alto Pass Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
