William Joel Bohannon

William Joel Bohannon, 94, of Godfrey passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023.  Born on March 6, 1929, he was the son of Roy and Vera (Butler) Bohannon.  He married Ada Marceline Cooley on August 31, 1948.  She preceded him in death on July 2, 2022. He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Russ) Borth of Normal, IL and Debbie Bearley of Godfrey, IL; two grandsons Chris (Connie) Borth of South Carolina and Mark (Meghan) Bearley of Godfrey; four great grandchildren, Anna, Caleb and Isaac Borth and Maddie Bearley; a brother, Paul (Jane) Bohannon of Anna and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson Derek Borth; brother Albert Bohannon; and sisters Emma Trammel and Esther Grimm. William was known by many names. Most knew him as Rev. Bohannon from his calling as a Nazarene minister at multiple churches from 1960-1995; he was known as Mr. Bill from his work at the Roxana School District until 2019; but the names that meant the most to him were Dad, PaPa, and Grandpa.  He loved serving the church; his sweets (ice cream); but most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. Funeral services for William Joel Bohannon will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Anna Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the funeral home.
