William "Bill" Bird Jr.

William "Bill" Bird Jr. age 76 of Jonesboro, died Thursday, July 22, 2021 in the Union County Hospital. He was born April 16, 1945 in West Frankfort, the son of William Carl Sr. and Lula (Fox) Bird. He married Carolyn Clayton on September 26, 1964. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Bird of Jonesboro; daughter, Sonya (Joe) Jaquet of Jonesboro; son, Jeremy (Gina) Bird of St. Joseph, IL; five grandchildren, Cody (Rachael) Hand, Kayla Hand and fiancé, Jacob Webb, Emily, Zoey and Chloe Bird; great-grandchildren, Connor Stanley, Eleison and Zella Baggotts, Tyson Webb; brother, George "Wally" Bird of Anna; sister, Anne Roessler of Elgin; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill was retired from Choate Mental Health where he worked many years as a Rehab Counselor. He served on the Jonesboro Fire Department and the Kelly Cemetery Board. Bill enjoyed lawn work and riding his John Deere tractor. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed target shooting. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. John Annable officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. and until the service hour at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. The family would request everyone attending to wear a mask or face covering, due to family members being immunocompromised.
