Mr. William D. "Bill" Stover, age 67 of Cobden, was called into God's kingdom at noon on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Barnes Jewish Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born July 27, 1943 in Carbondale, IL, the son of Homer D. and Madge Throgmorton Stover. He married Sandra T. Tellor on April 24, 1976 in Alto Pass, IL. Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra T. Stover of Cobden; one son, William Aaron (Paula) Stover of Buncombe; one daughter, Shannon D. Menkhaus of Germantown, IL; seven grandchildren, Levi and Alyxsandra Wilkins, Luke and Abby Menkhaus, Kaylee, Kenzie, and Kaleb Stover; one sister, Cynthia (Gary) Wright of Cobden; sister in law, Brenda (Ron) Parmly of Carterville; mother in law, Edna E. Tellor of Carbondale; United Missionary Church Family; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and father in law, James A. Tellor.Bill was a very active member of the United Missionary Church, where he served as trustee, Sunday school teacher, budget committee member and various other committees. He served on the Board of the Lick Creek Water District for many years. Bill served many years with the Boy Scouts of America and was scout leader for Troop 44 in Anna. Bill retired from Lewis Brothers Bakery in 2009 following 31 years of service. He enjoyed farming and antique tractors. The love of Bill's life was his family and his grandchildren.A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. William D. "Bill" Stover will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the United Missionary Baptist Church near Lick Creek, with Pastor Paul Tirey officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Missionary Church or Hope Lodge of St. Louis, Missouri. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home and at the church.
