Mr. William L. "Bill" Stokes, age 76 of Anna, died at 5:04 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at his home. He was born January 6, 1938 in Carbondale, IL, the son of William James and Lillian Catherine Logan Stokes. He married June E. Henderson on March 30, 1957 in Anna. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2009. Bill is survived by his daughter, Valeria (Jim) Meller of Anna; one son, David (Becky) Stokes of Anna; five grandchildren, Daphne Pratis, Matthew Meller, Zachary Stokes, Isabella and Grace Dollus; two great grandchildren, Taylor Gaddis and Madison Pratis; one sister, Molly Stokes and husband Tony Miraglio of Punta Gorda, FL; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, June E. Stokes. Bill was a member of the Anna United Methodist Church. He was passionate about his career at Choate Mental Health Center; he retired after thirty five years as a mental health technician. Bill loved Jesus and Country Music, at one time, Bill was in the band Bill Stokes and the Country Playboys. He enjoyed gardening and dearly loved his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Bill Minor officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
