Wilburn R. Gibbs, age 87 of Jonesboro, died Saturday, February 29, 2020 in the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born September 12, 1932 in Jonesboro the son of Arthur Elijah and Fannie (Day) Gibbs. He married Betty June Landis on October 6, 1951 in Jonesboro. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2014. Wilburn is surived by his three daughters, Diane L. (Gene) Eulinger of California, MO, Debra L. (Ronnie) Mays Anna, Sandra F. (Jason) Partridge of Cobden; five grandchildren, Ira Brown, Ronnie Lynn Jr. (Sheena) Mays, Crystal (Chris) Houseman, Timothy (Nikki) Mays, Jacob (Jennifer) Partridge; thirteen great-grandchildren, Asa Brown Archer Brown, Astin Brown and August Brown, Kahlan Mays, Ryan Houseman, Eli Houseman, Milo Houseman, Ender Mays, Belle Mays, Adley Partridge, Kadie Brown, Aya Brown; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty June Gibbs; grandson, Aaron Brown; siblings, Elijah, Luther, Jesse, Carl and Walter Gibbs, Emma Baggott, Myrtle Brooks and infant sister, Lula Gibbs. Wilburn was a member of the Reynoldsville Southern Missionary Baptist Church. He served as Deacon, Treasurer and taught Sunday school for many years. He owned and operated Wilburn R. Gibbs Real Estate until recent years and served as a Union County Commissioner. He loved fishing, spending time with all his grandchildren and playing music. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Jacob Swain officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Upward Basketball and Cheerleading Program at Anna Heights Baptist Church or to the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
