Wayne Crowell

Wayne Crowell, age 71 of Carbondale, formerly of Anna, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017 at his home. He was born October 17, 1946 in Anna, the son of George and Mary (Dirden) Crowell. He married Carolyn Mixen on October 16, 1966 in Union County. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Crowell of Carbondale; son, Bryan (Amanda) Crowell of Carbondale; daughter, Mary Jane Crowell of Carbondale; four grandchildren, John Michael, Nathaniel, Kassady and Bryanna; three sisters, Carolyn (Ed) Cates of Anna, Alice (Randy) Tucker of Jonesboro and Becky Crowell of Murphysboro; one brother, Buzz (Debbie) Crowell of Anna; many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Bryon Anderson. Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Wayne worked for the City of Anna for thirty-six years. After retiring, he worked part time for District 37 as a custodian and served on the Anna City Council. Wayne will be sadly missed, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. Funeral services for Wayne Crowell will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Phillip Mixen officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honors Team. Interment will be held at a later date in the Mound City National Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. and until the service hour at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
