Mr. Wayne Carter, age 87 of Anna, died at 3:33 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 in the Herrin Hospital. He was born May 3, 1927 in Chicago, the son of George Sr. and Myrtle Dickerson Carter. He married Garnita Meisenheimer and later married Zelma Daniels. Wayne is survived by his three step children, Bonnie Bigham of Olive Branch, Lydia Van Roekel of Cape Girardeau, MO, Harrell "Buddy" Sharp of Tamaroa; one step daughter in-law, Martha Daniels of Ware; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosetta Rhymer of Anna and Janet Sue Starr of Jonesboro; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; one sister in law, LaDonna Carter of Anna; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George "Buster" Carter Jr. and his twin, Ida June Carter, Hoover Carter, Frank Carter; sister, Virgie Baker; two wives; and step son, Oliver Daniels. Wayne was a member of the Elco Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the American Legion. He worked for over 65 years as a used car salesman. He owned and operated G & W motors in Elco and Cobden. Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Carter will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Bobby Richardson officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Military Honors Team of Marion. Interment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery in Dongola. Friends may call from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
