Wayland "Bud" Duty, age 84 of Cobden, died Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Herrin Hospital. He was born December 21, 1936 in Cobden, the son of Alvie and Mildred (King) Duty. He married Donna Girtman in 1959 in Cobden. Wayland is survived by his wife, Donna Duty; son, David Scott Duty; daughter, Cheryl Renee Goforth; grandchildren, Robin Wilson, Jeremy Duty, Jennifer Hill, and Tony Goforth; great-grandchildren, Zion Smith, Mackenzie Hill, Abby Hill, Olivia Goforth, and Luke Goforth; brothers, Joe, Francis, and Ronnie Duty; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie White; and son-in-law, Rex Goforth. Wayland was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Cobden. He enjoyed gardening, and especially loved tomatoes. He loved his Silverado truck and Dixon lawn mower. His greatest joys in life were is grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he loved them all very much. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September, 16 2021 at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Cobden with Joe Jones and Travis Hill officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
