Wanda Lee Gardner

Wanda L. Gardner, age 88 of Jonesboro, died Thursday, May 10, 2018 in Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born March 23, 1930 in Cobden, the daughter of Louie Robert and Mildred Marie (Treece) Kelley. She married John Lewis Gardner on March 27, 1949 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on , June 2, 2004. Wanda is survived by her three daughters, Joyce M. (Carl) Rendleman, Patricia A. Moehring, and Diana (Keith) Robertson all of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Kelley (Erick) Schwartz, Lisa (Josh) Tripp, Angela (Warren) Moehring, Kendra (Timotheus) Pope, and Cassie (Anthony) Cobb; eight great-grandchildren, Dalton Cobb, Simeon, Jada, Kayla, Judah, Susanna, Charity, and Asher Pope; sister, Kathy Knight of Jonesboro; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Lewis Gardner; brother, Louie Kelley; sisters, Deloris Ludlow and Leonora Collins; brothers in law, Ellison "Fuzzy" Knight, James Ludlow and Don Collins; and sister in law, Dorothy Armstrong. Wanda was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro. She retired from Jonesboro Grade School in 1991 after working many years as the cafeteria manager. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She loved spending the day with her daughters going out to eat or shopping. She dearly loved her family and her grandchildren meant the world to her. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Mark Hasty officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
