Mr. Walter C. "Don" Ray, age 94 of Anna, died at 9:47 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Anna Rehab and Care Center in Anna. He was born November 9, 1916 in Anna, the son of Charlie and Ella Mangrum Ray. Don was married to Mary F. Meisenheimer and later to Francis Cimmons. Both preceded him in death.Don is survived by one daughter, Donna J. Betts of Granite City, IL; one son, David H. (Lori) Ray of Anna; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Dorothy Woods of Anna; other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Mary and Francis; two brothers, Jack and Wayman Ray; and one sister, Wanda Spurlock. Don was a life member of the Carroll P. Foster Post # 3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna, the Anna Masonic Lodge # 520 AF & AM, and the Anna Eastern Star Chapter 522 AF & AM and the Aniad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, IL. He proudly served in the United Sates Army during WWII. Funeral services for Mr. Walter C. "Don" Ray will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Anna City Cemetery. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Graveside funeral honors will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post # 3455 of the V.F. W. in Anna and the Anna Masonic Lodge # 520 AF & AM. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post # 3455 or the Shriner's Hospital for Children. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
