Violet Lucresia Boyd

Mrs. Violet Lucresia Boyd, age 88 of Anna, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 in the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born March 30, 1926 in Reynoldsville, the daughter of Harry and Mae Jackson Wilson. She married Raymond A. Boyd on January 5, 1945 in Anna. He preceded her in death after 68 years of marriage on November 29, 2012. Violet is survived by her daughters, Judith (Charles) Neal of Anna, Jennifer Rae (Dr. Jerry) Goddard of Anna; one son, Randy (Kelly) Boyd of Stonefort; ten grandchildren, Ryan (Jeanette) Neal, Robin (Heather) Neal, Nathan Neal, Kelle O'Malley, Mathew Arthur Goddard, Shannon Goddard, Ashley Goddard, Ashton Martin, Jonathon Martin, Katrina Martin; four great grandchildren, Jordan O'Malley, Connor O'Malley, Briley Martin and Haven Martin; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond A. Boyd; six sisters, Mary Lacy, Ivory Wright, Wanda Rogers, Frankie Meisenheimer, Ruth Wilson and Oma Treece. Violet was a member of the Jonesboro Methodist Church for many years. Her final request was to have her bible in her bed as she chose compassionate care in the hospital. She had a loving heart and as in 1 Samuel 16:7 she did not judge others on outward appearance, but like her Lord looked at the heart. Violet was a tireless "giver", she always put family and friends before herself even as her health began to fail. In addition to being the most wonderful mother a family could ever hope for, she had a kindness and sweetness of personality that affected all that knew her. Funeral services for Mrs. Violet Lucresia Boyd will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Jeff Owens officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery in Anna. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
