Velma May Johnson Haney

Mrs. Velma May Johnson Haney, age 53 of Anna, died at 11:32 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born May 8, 1961 in Melrose Park, Illinois, the daughter of Clifford E. and Margaret May Dillon Johnson. She married Jerry W. Haney in September of 1981 in Jonesboro. Velma is survived by her loving husband, Jerry W. Haney of Anna; two brothers, William "Bill" (Tina) Johnson of Anna, and Leon E. Johnson of Jonesboro; one sister, Doris A. Johnson of Jonesboro; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Olen Eugene Johnson. Velma was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church for many years. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Velma May Johnson Haney will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 in the Valley Mission Cemetery in Jonesboro with Brother Billy Freeman officiating. Interment will be in the Valley Mission Cemetery. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Cemetery and at the funeral home.
