Mrs. Lorene Barringer ,92, of rural Buncombe, died at 7:10 AM, Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Anna Rehab & Care Center in Anna. She was born February 17, 1919 in Union County the daughter of William and Addie L. Manus Thornton.She was married to George O. Barringer on February 17, 1936 at Buncombe, IL. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1998.She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patsie and William (Gerald) Griffith of Lick Creek; a son-in - law, Steve Smith of Murphysboro; seven grandchildren, Sandra (Wes)Lyerla of Cobden, Crystal (Tom) Kee of Lick Creek, Lorraine (Shawn) Moreland of Cobden, Dawn (Ken) Sharkey of Tampa, FL, Danny Durbin of Cobden, Dina (Tim) Clover of Cobden, and Maria (Eric) Boerngen of Mattoon; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Mary L. Smith, Anna Lee and Fred Durbin; a brother, Charles Thornton; and an infant brother. William Pinkney.Lorene was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a long time member of the New Hope Baptist Church.Funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Barringer will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with the Rev. Andy Gillespie officiating. Interment will be held in the Cedar Grove cemetery near Buncombe. Friends may call at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna after 11:30 AM Tuesday until the funeral hour. Memorial contributions may be made New Hope Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
