Valerie E. Young

Valerie E. Young, age 94 of Anna, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 20, 2019. She was born July 27, 1924 in Zion, the daughter of Cecil W. and Christine Louise (Rundell) Crane. She married Forrest Dale Young on October 26, 1945 in Neoga, IL. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2001. Valerie is survived by her children, Brian Dale (Nancy) Young of Effingham, Patrice Lynne Young of Toccoa, GA, Ronald Brent Young of Carterville, Debrah Anne (Wayne) Lingle, Alicia Laure Young, and Pamela Louise Young-Laspina all of Anna; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister Cecilia "CeCe" Crawford of the Chicago area; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Forrest Dale Young; grandson, Eric Lingle; and sister, Gertrude "Trudy" Miller. Valerie was a member of the First Christian Church in Anna. She worked twenty-eight years at Choate Mental Health as a technician until her retirement. She loved spending time with her family and keeping up to date on her grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Ed Falgout officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Animal Control. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
