Tyler Sitter

Tyler Sitter, age 32 of Jonesboro, died Friday October 21, 2022. He was born December 12, 1989 in Murphysboro, the son of Dennis and Loretta (Hankla) Sitter.

Tyler is survived by his parents; Dennis and Loretta Sitter of Jonesboro; paternal grandmother, Helen Sitter of Anna; uncle, Walter Stanley (Becky) Sitter of Texas; aunt, Rose Marie (Chris) Walker of Anna; aunt, Susan (Dexter) Rhodes of Star Valley Ranch, WY; uncle, Kenneth (Dorothy) Hankla of Pinckneyville; cousins, Matt (Brittany) Rhodes of WY, Jason (Ashley) Walker of Carterville, Chris Lee (Karen) Walker of CO, and Jessica Braughton of TX; other relatives and many friends.

Tyler was a graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School, class of 2008. He later went on to graduate Shawnee Community College in 2010 and Southeast Missouri University in 2012. He currently worked as a highway maintenance operator for Union County Highway Department.

Tyler loved hunting and fishing.  Duck hunting was his passion.  Tyler, his dad, and his friends spent many special hours in many places on this quest.  His favorite place was to be in the woods.

Tyler also loved the ocean and the beach. Tyler and his parents were fortunate enough to go to beaches in Mexico, Bonaire, Belize, Honduras, Florida Keys, and West Palm Beach.  His favorite trip was to Roatan, Honduras.  He spent hours snorkeling on West End Bay and learned the names of all the ocean life he saw.  When he was older, Tyler got certified to dive.  Our family went to West Palm Beach and the Florida Keys on several diving trips and he and his dad spent a lot of time diving at Mermet Springs.

Tyler worked at Union County Highway Department, although he had previously held 3 other jobs, this is the one he loved the most. He was a hard worker – one of the best. No job was too much or too hard for him.  He strived to give it his best every day and had planned on retiring from there.

Those of us fortunate enough to truly know Tyler know that he was the most loving, loyal, dependable person you would ever meet.  This was one of his best qualities – willingness to do anything for his family and friends.

Tyler was the best son anyone could have.  He was loved unconditionally by his parents.  He was their world, and he knew that nothing could ever change their love for him. His parents knew Tyler felt the same way because he loved them with his whole heart and soul.

Tyler was taken from us and those who loved him too soon.  The only comfort we have is that Tyler believed in God and Jesus with his whole heart. There is no doubt that he is alive in heaven, surrounded by his relatives, and feeling nothing but joy, love, and peace.

Now all we can do is remember and talk about all the wonderful times and special places we each spent with him.  That way he will always be alive in our hearts until the time we actually see him again. There will be no services for Tyler.  He hated funerals and crowds so we feel that we are doing what Tyler would want.
