Tim Hunter, age 58 of Anna, died Friday, March 9, 2018 in the Marion V.A. Medical Center in Marion. He was born January 1, 1960 in Carbondale, the youngest child of Robert E. "Bob" and Ruby J. (Miller) Hunter. Tim was the first baby of the new year, Bob and Ruby received free diapers and a tree to plant for the front yard. Left to love and remember Tim is his mother, Ruby Hunter of Anna; brother, Stan (Janet) Hunter of Cobden; sister, Brenda (Don) Garver of Murphysboro; cousins, Douglas Vaughn of TN, Mike and Tim Hunter of CA, Lynn, Steve and Doug Hunter of AZ, and Lynda Zehner of AR; dear friends, Karen and Alan of Anna and beloved canine buddy, Mack. He was preceded in death by his father, grandmother, Sadie Melvin; grandparents, Zola and Hulbert Miller; aunt and uncle, Carmen and Harold Vaughn. Tim's childhood was spent with his family in Carbondale in the early 60's, attending elementary school, church and school activities, riding bikes, skateboarding, trips to the local grocer for treats, Little League, and running the hills of his grandparents farm...life was good and simple. He moved to Hazel Crest in 1969 with his family. Graduating from Hillcrest High School where he excelled in sports. He enlisted in the Marines after high school. After he completed his basic training, he graduated top of his platoon. During his time in service he was stationed in Yuma, AZ. After his service, Tim returned to his roots where he learned to weld and became a member of the Iron Workers Union. In recent years Tim's health began to decline and his work career ended. He occupied his time gardening and helping his mother and sister with various projects. He was an avid sports fan especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the United States Marine Corp. Friends may call after 10:00 and until the service hour at 12:00 on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Voluntary Services at the Marion C.L.C. or P.A.W.S. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
