Mr. Thomas L. "Tommy" Aldridge Jr., age 87 of Wolf Lake, died at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his home in Wolf Lake. He was born November 22, 1925, in Aldridge, IL, the son of Thomas L. Sr. and Dona Lingle Aldridge. He married Joyce Jeanette Gray on December 23, 1949 in Anna. She preceded him in death on June 1, 1992. Tommy is survived by his two daughters, Lucretia Aldridge Stoelzle of Carbondale and Tempa Dunn of Chatham; three grandchildren, Abby Dunn, Katie (Chad) Haley, Lauren Stoelzle; three great-grandchildren, Norah and Rowan Oberholtzer, Beulah Beaux-Gray Stoelzle; one brother, Bill Aldridge of Wolf Lake; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Aldridge; son in law, Joe Dunn; and sister, Joyce Ann Johnson. Tommy was a member of the Galilee Baptist Church of Wolf Lake. He was a member of the AF & AM Masonic Lodge #111 in Jonesboro for 63 years, the Union County Farm Bureau, and Operating Engineers Local 520 in Granite City. He worked many years as a crane and dragline heavy equipment operator. Tommy enjoyed farming, he farmed many acres around his home in Wolf Lake. Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr George Kao, the Radiation Oncologist at SIH and Dr. Kurt Martin for their care and expertise during Tommy's battle with cancer. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas L. "Tommy" Aldridge will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V. F. W. in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SIH Foundation New Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
