Theodore Roosevelt Womick, age 94 of Anna, died Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at his home. He was born December 1, 1925 in Anna, the son of William and Myrtle (Johnson) Womick. He married Winifred Inez Hartline on November 20, 1943 in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2003. Theodore is survived by his children, Vicki (Ted) Whiting of Bailey, CO, Theodore R. "Ted" (Tanya) Womick of Anna, and Betsy (Evan) Stewart of Benton; grandchildren, Carol Wagner, Adam Whiting, Jerimiah Womick, Jessie Wells, Nicholas Dillon, Amanda Dillon, Julie Pierce, and Tim Stewart; great-grandchildren, Kaley and Matt Wagner, Conor Whiting, Blake and Sophia Wells, Lillyan Tripp, Hanah Dillon, Logan and Ashtyn Pierce, Jack and Liam Stewart; special friends, Judy Miller, Ali Nemat, Kelly Rathunde, Jessica Wills A.N.P., Jim Harris, Christy Poe, Patricia Floyd, Kiersten Flick, Kathy Stegle, Richard and Mike Kelley. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Winifred Womick; siblings, Fred, Wilbur, and Bob Womick, Mary Lester, Bonnie Ellis, Helen Schultz, and Dorothy Woods. Theodore loved the outdoors and spent many summer vacations with family at Little Grassy Lake. One of his favorite places to go was Giant City Lodge. He was very proud of his military service and served in Europe in World War II, and during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post # 3455 and until his death he was the oldest living past commander of the post. He was a life member of the WWII National Museum. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved the holidays, especially Christmas. He loved his beautiful redhead, Winifred Hartline, since the age of 12, and he later married her. They were married for 59 years. Graveside funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the Anna Cemetery. Interment will immediately follow. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the cemetery.
