Steven E. Bailey, age 60 of Alto Pass, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1965 in Carbondale, the son of Thomas George Bailey, Jr. and Linda Margaret (Randall) Bailey. He married Cheri Dry on July 30, 2025.
Steve is survived by his wife Cheri; children, Lindsay Bailey, Brandon Bailey, Brooke (Kyle) VanCleve, and Kaley Wilson; mother, Linda Knaur; grandchildren, River and Briggs VanCleve; brother, Thomas George Bailey, III; nieces, Stephany (Victor) Hoehner and Sara Bailey; great-nephews, Deyton Francis and Vance Hoehner; stepmother, Rose Bailey; half-brother, Allen (Angie) Bailey; half-sister, Tammy (Tim) Smith; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father and stepbrother, Danny Hale.
Steve was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden. For many years, he worked in the family businesses, Union County Oil Company and Scent Saver convenience stores. He raced the Coastal 17 stock car and loved to compete in demolition derbies. In recent years, he was an over the road truck driver. He was a CB enthusiast; his handle was "Skunk 200". An avid musician, Steve owned and played many different musical instruments. He was kind and had a huge heart. He never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He will certainly be missed.
Funeral services for Steve Bailey will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Interment will follow in the Cobden Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 am until the service time at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 11, 2025 at the funeral home.
