Stephen Bates

Mr. Stephen Bates, age 58, of Anna, died at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born March 14, 1957 in Harrisburg, the son of Douglas C. Jr. and Helen Fowler Bates. Stephen is survived by his two brothers, Bobby "Leroy " Bates of Grantsburg, and Larry Bates of Fort Sumner, New Mexico; two sisters, Sharon Orlowski of Miramar, Florida and Susan Shepard of Golconda; his twenty year companion, Debbie Barrar of Anna; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ray Bates. Stephen worked many years for the Anna Nursery. Funeral services for Mr. Stephen Bates will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Bobby Richardson officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment will be at a later date in the Reevesville Cemetery in Reevesville, IL. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
