Shirley Jean (Peeler) Burns

Shirley Jean Burns, age 92 of Dongola, went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 6:52 am Sunday, October 6, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born on April 22, 1932, in Cairo, the daughter of Radwell Arvin and Alice Irene (Lentz) Peeler. She married Buster Keaton Burns on June 15, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2006.

Shirley is survived by her children, Randy Burns of Illinois; Kathy Mahan of Missouri; Michael Burns of New Mexico and Susan Oliver of Florida; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Terry Burns; daughter, JoyceLynn Burns-Yahn, great-granddaughter, Breyana Kaitlynne Simmons; siblings and parents.

Shirley was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was deeply loved by her family and will be tremendously missed.

As she wished, private family services will be held. Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
