Mrs. Shirley Ann Jones, age 69 of Cobden, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the home of her sister in Cobden. She was born October 26, 1943 in Cobden, the daughter of Leslie Ray and Mary Ann Dangbar George. She married Lee Roy Jones in October of 1962 in Union County. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1970. Shirley is survived by her son, Mark Jones of Cobden; two grandchildren, Chris Jones of Cobden, Brandi Jones of Wetaug; four sisters, Charlene Holderfield, Pauline Dillow, and Rosemary Cates all of Cobden, and Sally Wright of Salem; nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded by her parents; husband, Lee Roy Jones; one son, James Jones; three brothers, Eldon Ray George, Henry H. George, Mitchell George; and one sister, Edith Farris. Shirley was retired from Choate Mental Health and Development Center in Anna. She worked for over thirty years as a Registered Nurse. Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Ann Jones will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Rev. Rex Goforth officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the funeral hour on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
