Shirley Ann (Brown) Downey

Shirley Ann (Brown) Downey, age 87 of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Granite City. She was born on May 25, 1934 in McClure, the daughter of Orvil and Maggie (Smiddy) Brown. She is survived by her daughters, Jacquelyn "Jackie" (Randy) Baldwin and Gwendolyn "Gwen" (Jerry) Fuller both of Granite City; a son, Danny (Tina) Wright of St. Louis, MO; her grandchildren, Cheryl (Jeff) Seemiller, Melissa (Brian) Boss, Christopher (Lisa) Baldwin, Timothy (Stacy) Baldwin, Victoria (Chad) Sanford, Danielle (Dave) Price, Joscelyn (Cody) Tatum, Daniel (Scott) Wright and Branden (Victoria) Wright; great grandchildren, Zachary and Brett Pearman, Katelyn Wense, Hailey and Caden Yarber, Meredith, Miranda, Xander and Garrett Baldwin, Jesse and Samantha Seemiller, Jack, Mick and Tripp Sanford, Tyson and Teagan Tatum; her siblings, Ramona Wright and Gerald Brown, both of Anna; Carolyn (Bob) Coryell of Granite City and Rockie (Sandy) Brown of Milan, TN; her special furry friend, Abby; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Downey; her special friend and companion, Fred J. Wright and five siblings, Robert Brown, Lonnie Brown, Oliver (Bert) Brown, Patricia Reynolds, and an infant brother, Orvil Dean Brown. Shirley loved her family and all of God's creatures. She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time among her flowers. Funeral services for Shirley Downey will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with David Adams officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
