Shielda Wheaton, 71 years of age, passed on November 28, 2022, surrounded by family and dear friends. Shielda was born on February 20, 1951, the fourth child of Olin Frank and Clara Edna (Wright) Wheaton, in Anna.
Shielda is survived by two daughters, Angela (Scott) Horn of Carterville and Michelle (Keith) Bono of Anna; eight grandchildren, Josh and Julia Peeler, Kyle and Kassie Bunch, Olivia Bono, Fallon (Nick) Stearns, and Josie and Wyatt Horn; and four great-grandchildren, Laken and Eila Peeler, Everhett Bunch, and Lyla Stearns; one sister, Shirley Vines of Anna; sister-in-law, Peggy Smith of Cape Girardeau, Mo. Shielda is also survived by a vast number of family members and close friends whom she loved dearly. Shielda was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald Smith and Ronald Smith, and brother-in-law Jim Vines.
Shielda attended Southern Illinois University for higher education but due to an accident she never pursued a career in the workforce. Instead, she dedicated her life to God and sharing blessings with those in her community and online. She should always be remembered for her generosity and compassion. Shielda was a member at Hope Church in Anna. Her church and community meant the world to her.
Funeral services for Shielda will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Pastor Darrell Coleson officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesboro cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 am until the service hour of 11:30 am at the funeral home on Friday, December 2, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hope Church that will be used to assist those in need.
