Shelby June Harvel

Mrs. Shelby June Harvel, age 74 of Jonesboro, died at 11:00 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at her home. She was born, June 18, 1937 in Dongola, the daughter of Herman and Mary Karraker Penninger. She married George Willistene Harvel on January 7, 1955 in Anna. June is survived by her husband George Harvel of Jonesboro; one son, Michael (Patty) Harvel of Anna; one daughter Genie "Beth" Harvel of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Clint (Stephanie) Harvel, Ashley (Ben)Daniels, Rachel Harvel, Taylor Harvel, Corlis Burris, Zachary Burris; three great grandchildren, Aiden Harvel, Jett Harvel and June Daniels; one brother, Rodney Clements of West Palm Beach, FL; two sisters, Shirley Powles of Jonesboro and Kay Rothschild of Anna; sister in law, Bernette Cerney of Anna; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Stevie Harvel; two brothers, Billy Gene and Robert Penninger; father in law and mother in law, George William and Genie Harvel; and brother in law, Corlis Powles.June was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro for many years. She was the executive housekeeper at Chester Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. June was a wonderful wife and mother; she will be dearly missed by all. Funeral services for Mrs. June Harvel will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro with Pastor David Eidson officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery near Dongola. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro and after 10:00 a.m. and until the funeral hour Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Lutheran church. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro and at the Church.
