Shawn Eric Etchason

Shawn Eric Etchason, age 52 of Jonesboro, passed away June 10, 2025 at his home.  He was the son of Gary Etchason and Francie Rahe of Effingham.

Shawn lived many years at Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna until he was "adopted" by his Chamness Care family in 2013.  For the last 12 years, Shawn lived at Chamness Care, he was nothing but pure joy to everyone who encountered him.  He had limited ability to speak but was able to show his love and appreciation through his amazing hugs.  He surely blew a million kisses over his lifetime.

Shawn is survived by his mother Francie; house manager George Christy, Q Mike; devoted staff Phillip, Robbie, Kashe, Jacob, Nikki, Scott and Garrett. He leaves behind his housemates and friends Jacob, Clint and Sabre. So many other staff over the years were crazy about Shawn. Shirley, Angie, Don, Teresa, Ginger, Lisa, Kerry, there are just too many people that he impacted to name them all.

Shawn worked at the JRC in Anna for the last 13 years with his friends Paris, LaDonna, Liz and Nic.  Shawn's best friend was Terry J, who passed away a couple of years ago. We know that Shawn is in heaven. We will all miss him so.

Memorial services for Shawn Etchason will be held at 10 am Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
