Sharon Sue Miles Waterman passed to glory on October 8, 2015 after a sudden illness in the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis Missouri. Born February 27, 1945 to Harold and Elva Stuckey Miles in Indianapolis, Indiana, she lived most of her life in Anna, IL. Sharon was a graduate of Anna Jonesboro Community High School in 1963, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, in 1967. She also earned a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from S.I.U. Children have always been her passion, and she taught elementary school in the Anna Jonesboro school district for 35 years. She retired in 2005 and moved to Staunton, IL to be near her children and grandchildren. In Staunton, she worked for First National Bank as Director of The Goldenairres, leading her clients on many wonderful adventures.She was an active member of First Christian Church in Anna, Illinois, for over 50 years, where she was part of the praise and worship team, taught Sunday School, and served in many other ministries. After moving to Staunton, she began attending First Christian Church of Gillespie, Illinois, and worked in children's ministry there. To know Sharon was to know what it is to be loved. She loved generously and well and had a calm spirit that blessed those around her. To be with her was to feel the light of God's love shining on you. Truly, Sharon was here to serve and not to be served. Sharon is survived by her husband James Michael Waterman, originally of Taylorville, Illinois. Sharon and Jim were married on August 11, 1990, and recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. She is also survived by her two sons, Brian Ury (Kim) and Greg Ury (Merissa) both of Staunton, Illinois, a step-son, Zach Waterman (Vivian)of Omaha, Nebraska, and step-daughter, Felicity Waterman Auskalnis (Richard) of Palm Harbor, Florida. Sharon was "Gigi" to her 7 grandchildren, Jacob and Jared Ury, Zach and Cody Ury, Madeline and Sidney Waterman, and Amelia Auskalnis, and several others she loved like her very own. She is also survived by her brother Larry Miles (Pam) and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 in the First Christian Church in Anna with Dee Armes and Art Roemer officiating. Interment will be in the Anna City Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 in the First Christian Church in Anna. Memorial contributions can be made to Johnson Bible College. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna and at the Church or mailed to Johnson Bible College at 1900 Johnson Drive Knoxville, TN 37998. Memorial services will also be held in the First Christian Church in Gillespie, IL with a gathering of family and friends from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2014, service at 7:00 p.m. with Art Roemer officiating.
