Sarah Lea Duty, age 88 of Anna, died Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born July 20, 1935 in Cobden, the daughter of Claude Eugene and Dessie Lea (Casey) Dillow. She married Donald Elbert Duty on June 25, 1952 in Jackson, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2023.
She is survived by her children Mitcheal (Renee) Duty of De Soto and LaDonna (Roger) Johnson of Buncombe; grandchildren, Michael Duty, James (Jessie) Duty, Alicia (Dylan) Duty, Leigh-Anne (Scott) Mitcheff, and Karen (Kyle) Grant; great-grandchildren, Amelia Alice Grace Gruny, Jayden Johnson, Julian Crippen, Ember, Lillian, Kaiya and Cain Mitcheff, Kylen (Nikki) Grant, Kalynn, Kollyn and Kaden Grant, and Cain Briddick; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Elbert Duty; and five brothers, Clarence, Lester, Carl, Conrad and Raymond Eugene Dillow.
Sarah will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and granny to all her grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake cakes, anytime company was over she was ready to feed them, whether they were hungry or not. She never shied away from work, there was always something to do on the farm. Sarah and Donald raised all sorts of animals, her favorite were her ducks and baby deer that she would bottle feed.
Funeral services for Sarah will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Pastor Scott Foster officiating. Interment will follow in the Anna Cemetery in Anna. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
