Mr. Samuel J. "Sam" Jiardina, age 59 of Anna, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born June 16, 1953 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Salvatore and Genevieve Haverstick, Jardina. He married Cheryl Earley on December 23, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Jiardina of Anna; one daughter, Christina Jiardina of Oswego, IL; two step-daughters, Cathy (Ed) White and Terri Williams all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one step-son, Michael (Kelly) Ritsche of Aurora, IL; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Jiardina of Montana and David Jiardina of Cadillac, MI; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Sam was a member of the Countryside Christian Church in Vienna and served as board member for the church. He was a past member of the Cobden Lions Club and a board member of the Hospitality House in Vienna. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Funeral services for Mr. Samuel J. "Sam" Jiardina will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Bill Littrell officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
