Sammy Lee Farris

Mr. Sammy Lee Farris, 55, of the Dutch Ridge community, died at 1:50 P.M. Saturday April 2, 2011 at St. Joseph's Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. He was born February 29, 1956 in Anna, the son of Fred Chester and Jeanette Boshera Farris. He married Julia Juanita Reynolds on July 20, 1985 in Steeleville, MO. Sammy is survived by his wife, Juanita Farris of Carbondale; 8 children, Michael (Ashley) Farris of Schaumburg, IL, Kathy (Shawn) Stearns of Carbondale, Karen (Terry) Reese, Jr. of Carbondale, Steven (Sherry) Marks of Carbondale, David (Christine) Marks of Carbondale, John (Vivian) Marks of Alto Pass, Joe "Porky" Marks of Pomona, and Julia Kay (Gary) Vaughn of Goreville; 4 brothers, Dale (Sharon) Farris of Lincoln, IL, Bill (Pay) Farris of Iraq, Fritz (Debbie) Farris of Cape Girardeau, and Jerry (April) Farris of Jonesboro; 1 sister, Mary (James) Bloodworth of Dongola; 26 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.Sammy was a member and trustee at the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church and was a member of the Murphysboro Moose Lodge. Funeral services for Mr. Sammy Lee Farris will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday April 5, 2011 at the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church near Alto Pass with Rev. Paul Sadler, Rev. Dr. Ron Ferguson, Rev. George Calhoun, and Rev. Eric Hanson officiating. Interment will be in the Hagler Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 P.M. on Monday evening at the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church and after 9:00 A. M. Tuesday until the funeral hour at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Dutch Ridge Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Alto Pass or at the church.
