Mrs. Ruth B. Waring, age 99 of Anna, formerly of Cobden, died at 1: 45 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011 after a long and lengthy illness. She was born January 11, 1912 in Waterloo, Iowa. She married William E. "Bill" Waring on September 17, 1941 in Anna. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1987.Ruth is survived by her three children, Jacqueline Goodman of Carbondale, Gerald L. Berry of Cobden, and Judith (Mike) Anderson of Crown Point, IN; six grandchildren, Sherry (Bill) Stull of Wilson, NC, Leslie Berry of Chicago, Jerilyn (Larry) Miller of Hillsboro, IL, Jo Lynn (Shawn) Cox of Salem, IL, Valerie Jarboe of Hampstead, MD, Kirk (Sheri) Anderson of Dongola; six great grandchildren, Jason Miller of Peoria, Jessica (Clint) Evans of Hillsboro, IL, Victoria, Roy & Grant Jarboe of Hampstead, MD, Jamie Anderson of Dongola; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Francis E. "Sonny" Berry; and one daughter in law, Loretta Berry.Ruth spent much of her life in Cobden. In the 1950's Bill and Ruth owned the Ritz Theater in Cobden and the Doll Theater in Jonesboro. From 1948 to 1967 they built and owned the Waring Drive in Theater on old Route 13 between Carbondale and Murphysboro. Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth B. Waring will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Cobden Cemetery with Rev. Clifford Heil officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
