Russell "Papa Russy" Colson

Russell "Papa Russy" Colson, age 56 of Carbondale, formerly of Makanda, died Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He was born January 20, 1963 in Morris, IL, the son of Henry and Ethel "Dolly" (Hagler) Colson. He married Kelly (Baltzell) Colson on April 14, 2012 in Makanda. Russel is survived by his wife, Kelly Colson of Carbondale; children, Michael Colson of Carbondale, Crystal (Mike) Inchcliff of Carterville, Kimberlee Klump of Carbondale; six grandchildren, Cayden and Bryson Inchcliff, Xander and Jaxxon Smith, Angel Colson, Jesse Patterson; brothers, Virgil (Tabatha) Colson, Steve (Patsy) Colson, John (Tammy) Colson; sister, Diane (Dennis) Nance; many nieces and nephews; best friends, Stuart Spears and Lyle Bonnell; father-in-law, Harley Baltzell; and many, many other friends. He was preceded in death by his loving parents. He loved his family and enjoyed taking his grand babies fishing in his spare time. He was surrounded by his family in his final days. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Makanda Baptist Church with Joshua Colson and Dennis Nance officiating. Interment will be in the Gentry Cemetery in Carterville, IL. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Makanda Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the family for the grandchildren. Envelopes will be available at the church and the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
