Ms. Ruby R. Siebert, age 78, of Jonesboro, died at 9:10 P.M. Thursday August 12, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. She was born October 25, 1931 in Ulysses, KS. the daughter of John W. and Lydia K. Neufeld Siebert.Ruby is survived by three sisters, Geneva Fast of Ulysses, KS., Mary Klaassen of Wichita, KS., Irene (Don) Isaac of Meade, KS.; two brothers, Lester (Martha) Siebert of Cobden, and Waldo (Mary) Siebert of Overland Park, KS., several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant brother, Menno Siebert.Ruby lived her life serving God and her family. As a young child she helped her father with milking cows, gathering eggs, driving the tractor, and slopping the hogs. Years later her father insisted she get out of the farming business, in 1989 Ruby opened a small fabric store in Ulysses. Ruby was also an accomplished pilot, learning to fly from her father. Although she was never licensed on one occasion she flew from New York to Nigeria.God opened a door for Ruby through mission work, which would lead her to Nigeria and West Africa. During her six years there she taught in a Girls Training College, CTI and the school for missionary children.Ruby has always been active through the Church, teaching Sunday school, playing the piano and organ, and directing the choir. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden for many years. Ruby was also active in the Senior Citizens Center in Anna, for six years she was the treasure for the Site Council. Funeral Services for Ms. Ruby R. Siebert will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 19, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Cobden with the Rev. Allen Speer officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday until the funeral hour at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the B Men at the First Baptist Church in Cobden. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden and at the church.
