Mrs. Ruby Alma Elkins, age 91 of Anna, formerly of Jonesboro, died at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Anna Rehab and Nursing Care Center. She was born April 2, 1920 in Reynoldsville, the daughter of James and Alice Cooper Dillon. She married Homer Elkins on September 5, 1939 in Jackson, Mo. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1984.Ruby is survived by one granddaughter, Lana (Dale) Cochrane of Jonesboro; one grandson, Scott (Rhonda) Abernathy of Jonesboro; one brother in law, Getty Abernathy of Wolf Lake; one brother, Cecil "Dick" (Bonnie) Dillon of Jonesboro; four great grandchildren, Jason (Tiffany) Spurlock, Josh (Kim) Spurlock, Hillary Abernathy and Hailley Abernathy; one step great grandson, Steven Cochrane; four great-great grandsons; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer; one daughter, Wanda Abernathy; two brothers and one sister. Ruby was a member of the Jonesboro Baptist Church for seventy five years. She will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by all who knew her. Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Alma Elkins will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. John Cripps officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 noon and until the service hour on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
