Roy Nathaniel King, age 86 of Anna, died at 7:15 pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Union County Hospital in Anna. Roy was born in Wolf Lake on September 15, 1924, the son of Nathaniel and Myrtle (Pender) King. He married Myrtle Treese on April 27, 1946 in Jonesboro and she preceded him in death on June 3, 1990. Survivors include three children, Karen (Gary) Poole of Anna, Jerry (Pauline) King of Anna and Ronald ("Bear") King of Anna; three grandchildren, David Wayne (Anne) Poole of Springfield, MO, Rebecca Roy Ann Poole of Anna and Christina Danielle Poole (Ryan Pratt) of Ashley, IL; two great-grandchildren Kyleigh Danielle Myers and Conner Nathan Pratt; two brothers, Fred (Jean) King of Charlotte, MI and Richard (Tia) King of Jonesboro; four sisters, Geneva Jackson of Jonesboro, Betty King of Anna, Mary (Frank) Elkins of Jonesboro, and Laura (Bob) Spiller of Anna; sixteen nieces and nephews, Patsy Butterfield, Harry Jackson, Jane Tisdale, Walter Lee Jackson, Kathy Joan Milam, Brenda King, Darlene Lever, Fred Laverne King, Doris White, Jeanette Fuller, Marilyn Dyer, Richie King, Danny King, Diane Spiller, Deborah Spiller and JoAnna Galloway; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle; two brothers-in-law, Walter P. Jackson and Lee Fuller. Roy proudly served his country during WWII while in the Army and Air Force. He was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 in Anna. He retired from the Davie Grade School in Anna as a bus driver and custodian. Roy was an avid hunter, loved to fish and to be outdoors and he also enjoyed farming. Funeral services for Mr. Roy N. King will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with David Wayne Poole and Walter L. Jackson officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery with military Honors being conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster #3455 of Anna and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 5 until 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
