Mr. Roy Irvin Glasco, age 90 of Cobden, died at 6:57 pm, Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. He was born on December 15, 1922 in Jonesboro, the son of Lowell I. and Rosa Mae (Leggans) Glasco. Roy married Elizabeth Clary on October 16, 1953 and she preceded him in death on May 10, 1976. Roy later married Roberta Jackson. Roy is survived by his wife Roberta of Marion; one brother, Troy Glasco of Cobden; three sisters, Wilma Thetford of Cobden, Vertus Ray and Betty Eskew, both of Mantino, IL; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth; one brother, Paulie Glasco and four sisters, Patsy Tweedy, Mary Highland, Charlene Givens and Emily McFarlin. Roy proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and he was a member of the Cottage Home Baptist Church. Roy worked as the Fire Chief for Elgin, Illinois for many years. Funeral services for Mr. Roy Irvin Glasco will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden with Tommy Monroe officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg, IL. Friends may call after 1 p.m. and until the funeral hour on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cottage Home Baptist Church . Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
