Roy L. Bauer

Mr. Roy L. Bauer, age 82 of Jonesboro, died at 7:14 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2012 at the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born May 20, 1930 in Jonesboro, the son of Roy R. and Stella Tomlinson Bauer. He married Pauline Helen Boyd on June 20, 1952 in Jonesboro. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1984. Later he married Shirley Smith Doughty on June 21, 1986 in Jonesboro. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Bauer of Jonesboro; one son, Kevin (Marcia) Bauer of Taylorville; one daughter, Paula (Kenny) Musgrove of Calvert City, KY; two step daughters, Monica (Darrell) Bellee of Cobden and Donna (Terry) Stanley of Cobden; eight grandchildren, Heather, Kevin Jr, Heath, Adam, Lisa, Cory, Ashley and Austin; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Bauer of Jonesboro; one sister, Alice (Curley) McMillion of New Orleans; one brother in law, Richard (Peggy) Boyd of Seaford, DE; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Pauline Helen Bauer; and one great grandson. Roy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro for many years. He retired from Bunny Bread, farmed and operated a private trucking business. For many years he drove a school bus; the RAVE bus and the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro Sunday school bus. Roy was a volunteer with Hospice of Southern Illinois. He spent many hours visiting and comforting those in need. Funeral services for Mr. Roy L. Bauer will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Todd Plunkett and Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Jonesboro. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
